Will Dogs Save the California Citrus Industry?

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA), California Department of Food and Agriculture, and the University of California are hopeful that trained dogs can sniff out Huanglongbing (HLB) in order to keep the disease from spreading throughout California. According to an article in the Visalia Times-Delta, there are certain breeds that can be trained to identify trees infected with other citrus diseases, and research is underway to find out if the same concept will work on HLB.
